Glasgow, UK November 28, 2013 - Anime Limited are thrilled to announce a limited cinema release of Patema Inverted in the UK.
Patema Inverted is the latest cinematic offering from the talented Yasuhiro Yoshiura, director of the much loved Time of Eve and Pale Cocoon OVA. The film is set in a unique underground world where an adventurous young princess, Patema, sets to explore the ‘danger zone’ - the region where passage has been forbidden by the leaders of the community. As she investigates the ‘danger’, Patema soon discovers just what’s going on right under her feet.
Set for release in Japan in November this year, Anime Limited is very proud to bring this unique and beautiful film to UK anime audiences. Incredibly designed and breathtakingly shot, Patema Inverted is sure to be a hit with audiences.
In addition to the theatrical release of Patema Inverted, Anime Limited will also be releasing the film as a Collector’s Edition Blu-ray and DVD with a regular release of the film on Blu-ray and DVD at a later date.
Andrew Partridge, founder and president of Anime Limited says: ‘We’re very excited to bring the visual and storytelling treat that is Patema Inverted to the UK for theatrical release. Having such a film made available to cinema-goers is what we strive to do here at Anime Limited. Being able to also bring the film to home video allows us to provide UK anime audiences with a full service experience’.

I hope you’ve all been enjoying the quite insanely brilliant Kill la Kill. I certainly have. Especially as the series goes on and the story and character development deepen. To be honest, I’m actually pretty impressed with the level of character depth there is to this series - it could have so easily just been a show about revenge with a lot of boobs, but as it goes on you can see that it really is a lot more than that. Sexy Senseis aside.
Now initially, I was pretty skeptical of the show. But by episode two, I could see how the show was developing and it really did draw me in. Ryuko and Satsuki are two interesting, brave and strong characters and as the episodes progress, we start to get a lot more backstory on them - there is more to each of their characters than at first you think. But many tomes and blog posts have been written about both these characters. I’m not here to talk about them. I want to wax lyrical about another brilliant character - Mako.
Ok, ok I know what you’re thinking but seriously hear me out. When we’re first introduced to Mako, she seems like the archetypical ditzy, booby, airheaded, simple damsel in distress - some serious eye-rolling material. I rolled my eyes so damn hard I could pretty much see the grey mush that I fondly call my brain. But I stuck to the show, because it was pretty rad (the main characters are obviously exceptionally rad). It was exciting, thrilling, hilarious and on top of all that so beautifully done. The action, sequences, story pacing and animation is so quick and changeable it pretty much leaves you breathless (and definitely requiring more than one viewing). In short, it’s beautiful, wonderful and great fun.
It became clear early on that there was so much more to Mako than I had initially thought. She may seem like comic relief (although the whole show seems to have a ton of side characters that offer just that) ditzy damsel in distress, but you begin to see her as actually quite smart, loyal and extremely brave. She rushes to defend and protect Ryuko whenever she’s been knocked down and helps build up her confidence and fight. She’s jumped in front of weapons, seriously angry people and those deemed her ‘superior’ in order to rescue her only friend from certain doom. She also acts as Ryuko’s pillar of strength - giving her the confidence to go on when she’s taken too much of a literal, emotional or intellectual beating. Mako helps Ryuko keep fighting the student council. Not an easy feat.
So, in summary, I totally dig Mako. I dig all the characters and the show but for me Mako stands out as especially awesome. This is because, while she has no super strength or useful weapons or friends or a fiery sense of vengeance to drive her on, she still stands unhesitantly in the face of danger to fight the bad guys and save her friend. Mako is the strongest and fiercest character in the show. In essence, she’s as bad ass as they come. And I dig that.
The upcoming releases for Perfect Blue Collector's Edition combipack and Cowboy Bebop Complete Collection on DVD has been further delayed until December 2nd, 2013.
This is not something you're keen on hearing - many of you have already suffered through the last rounds of delays on both these titles and are finding your patience wearing very thin. Believe me, we're even less jazzed about this than you are. However, these things happen and we here at Anime Limited HQ try to be as open and transparent about what's going on as possible. So here it goes.
Perfect Blue Collector's Edition (BD+DVD)
Last we left it, the Perfect Blue Collector's Edition combipack had to be delayed until the 25th of November due to a manufacturing issue. We've only today received word that there is a problem with the replication process. Basically, the replicators have come back and said there's a problem with printing the packaging for the combipack. What this means, in the tld;dr version - they dun goofed and the print for the cases is too large. It's not right and it has to be redone.
Cowboy Bebop Complete Collection DVD
The big delay with Cowboy Bebop DVD collection was down to a quality of product issue - essentially, we got the check discs in the office and it appeared that in order to fit all 26 episodes plus the extras on to 4 DVDs picture quality was sacrificed. And how! The images were so pixellated and low res that we had to take the decision not to ship the product, and have an additional 2 discs added to the collection at no extra cost to the consumer.
And now we have to delay Cowboy Bebop Complete DVD Collection again - this time, due to the same printing and replicating issue listed above for Perfect Blue.
In both cases, we had provided the proper dimensions for both sets of packaging - and in plenty of time. It seems that somewhere along the chain - a somewhere that is outside our direct control - something went wrong. We totally understand the unending frustration you're feeling because we feel it too - believe us, this isn't the ideal scenario for business especially in our first year. We know that with every delay to a title, our customers grow increasingly annoyed and impatient. But our top priority has always been the need to deliver a quality product that makes it worth parting with your money. And in order to do this, we will be taking the hit on these titles to meet our quality objective.
In summary, we're as ticked off as you guys are about this but when you do get your respective copies of the two titles listed above it will be to a high standard and worth the wait.
Thank you for your continuing patience and please seek solace in this picture of the team upon hearing the news today.
Glasgow, UK October 30, 2013 - Anime Limited are happy to announce the release of Samurai Flamenco for UK anime audiences. Samurai Flamenco is a new series recently launched in Japan and currently simulcasting on Wakanim.co.uk.
Masayoshi Hazama: a man who has become a superhero “by himself” with no superhuman powers or any sort of high-tech conversions, NONE!!
Hidenori Goto: a cop who found out the true identity of “the superhero” by a strange twist of fate and thus constantly gets in trouble thanks to Hazama, the superhero.
This is the story of the birth of a true hero featuring these two young men with a touch of comedy and serious drama, while they come face to face with hardships as they search for the true meaning of becoming a hero of justice in this world! Broadcast on October 10th, 2013, the show is currently running on Japanese television. The release format and dates have yet to be confirmed as the show is still running, but likely they will be announced early in the coming year (2014).
Andrew Partridge, founder and president of Anime Limited says: Being a major fan of Takahiro Omori and his previous works - especially Durarara!! and Baccano - bringing Samurai Flamenco to UK anime audiences alongside Wakanim.co.uk in the form of simulcast has been a huge deal for us.
