Anime Limited Podcast #1 – 27/2/2015

February 27, 2015 · 2 comments

AnimeLimited_PodcastLogoWe mentioned it our Newswire earlier this week and we’re happy to bring you the first ever Anime Limited Podcast!

On this inaugural edition of the programme the theme is very much an introduction to Anime Limited. So with that in mind Jeremy Graves (Anime Limited’s Marketing Executive) essentially interviews Andrew Partridge (President of Anime Limited) and Kerry Kassim (Head of Marketing for Anime Limited) looking at back at the how the company first came about, how things have gone along the way and give you an idea of where things will be going over the next year too.

On top of that there’s also talk on our latest film acquisition, Miss Hokusai, and time to answer some questions from the community as well!

(To download the podcast as an mp3, click on the arrow pointing down in the top right corner of the player above.)

As things stand the podcast is available through Soundcloud only. (Should it help you can find our Soundcloud page HERE.) We are looking to make this available through other services such as iTunes too, but we wanted to get the ball rolling with the podcast sooner rather than later, so in short other platforms will follow.

There is also a Soundcloud app available on both iTunes and Google Play, so you download and listen to our podcast through there as well.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Signing out~!

Jeremy

Lapsed anime fan here. Great start and a super informative episode. I expected your typical format (what have you been watching, hey look at our releases), but value holistic description of Anime Ltd and the work that goes on in the background / your plans for the future. All the logistical wrangling around titles and content etc. is fascinating stuff, as this ultimately determines the product that we get. In nutshell - fresh approach, like the openness and community engagement, Fanboy/Fangirl gushing reined in (or is that because you love ALL your titles), great to finally put voices to names. More please. Couple of questions/comments 1. Love the digital push. How do 'numbers' work for digital? Do you get a per stream royalties, or do you just license your content out for a set period? How much time do I have (typically) before these need to get renewed or pulled? 2. Despite shelf-space and digital convenience, I'm still very fond the physical editions. One pet peeve I have (since you're asking about your releases): consistent packaging dimension. While the Ultimate Editions (Gurren Lagann and Paterma inverted, so far) had lots of great content, they were a little overkill for me. So, I would love a 'standard height' collector's SKUs with ultimates for hardcore fans. While individual titles should speak for themselves, having a consistent "Anime Limited series" would speak quality and mission (couldn't think of a better word, but see for example Plain Archive, Mondo Steelbook, Ghibli Japan releases). What's your opinion on this? As fans, I'm sure we've all been there when we neatly arrange ours DVDs or Blu-rays in a shelf and pop an oversize thing on top. Either that, or I see somebody about OCD.
