TITLE: Product Manager, Theatrical
JOB TYPE: 1 year maternity leave, with a 1 month probationary period
MAIN SUPERVISORS: Managing Director, Anime Limited
OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE
- Manage the release pipeline for the UK theatrical end-to-end including but not limited to evaluating new acquisitions, building a P&A and theatrical release plan in concert with the marketing team, scheduling release dates & arranging bookings with chains & independents, coordinating the marketing team’s efforts for promotional assets
- Manage asset creation & delivery with marketing team for event & festival screenings across Europe as required.
- Coordinate with other stakeholders (theatrical partners, festivals, advertising buyers etc, PR agencies etc) to help ensure the best possible releases of titles when acquired.
- Manage back-catalogue theatrical content efficiently and maximise opportunities in regional areas in the UK.
- Provide guidance, feedback and implement changes to help improve the theatrical workflow overall.
DAILY AND MONTHLY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with the management team to evaluate new potential and licensed theatrical titles and allocate a plan with P&A and release scale suitable for each one.
- Implement the theatrical plans in concert in terms of booking films with venues or distributors, establishing terms and fixing dates.
- Working in concert with the marketing department to create assets for use both internally and with partner chains & venues to promote the film.
- Manage the P&A usage efficiently between all marketing & business areas.
- Work with in-house technical team to manage delivery of DCPs to venues for each theatrical run.
- Maintain project timelines to ensure tasks are accomplished on time, making use of colleagues across teams to ensure they succeed as well as possible.
- Foster and grow relationships with cinema groups (BFI FAN, ICO, Creative Scotland etc) and Festivals to develop & enhance the company’s reputation in the theatrical space.
- Gathering information from marketing team and theatrical release into reports for stakeholders both internally and externally with a focus on KPI’s.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Quantitative:
- Theatrical releases scheduled in the year and programmes effectively managed.
- Box office returns for theatrical releases vs forecasts.
- Efficiency of P&A spend vs box office
- Engagement with theatrical marketing efforts across channels.
- Festival placements & returns from them both fiscal and publicity.
- Qualitative:
- Relationships built and maintained.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role has no supervisory requirements at present.
Skills and qualifications required
- Ability to speak, read, & write effectively in English at business level or higher
- Effective communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Previous project management experience is a must.
- Proven understanding of the theatrical space, P&As and ability to manage them.
- Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
- Ability to pay strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
- Ability to work effectively in a small business environment with an emphasis on teamwork
- Ability to work legally in the United Kingdom
- Understanding of Japanese animation or home entertainment & theatrical in general a plus
Understanding and proficiency in the following software packages:
- Mac OSX
- Microsoft Excel
- Airtable
- Basecamp or similar project management software
- Google Apps / Dropbox
- VLC
SALARY & BENEFITS:
Salary depending on experience.
45 days holiday time given, inclusive of public holidays.
8% pension contribution from Anime Ltd, separate to employee mandated %.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Approximately 90% of time spent on the job involves use of a video display terminal; therefore, successful applicants must be able to sit for extended periods and to utilise standard ergonomics practices. While the primary place of work is in an office environment, employees MUST be able to travel both domestically and internationally as needed. Employees will be given sufficient notice of travel in advance to plan ahead, should travel be required.
As part of a multi-media entertainment company with a focus on Japanese animation, employees may be subjected to work-related images including content such as: sexually explicit images, nudity, and graphic violence. Employees should be willing to work with this type of content. Anime Limited does not condone the viewing of this content where not work-related.
