Introducing: Cloud Matsuri

Usually around this time of year we at Anime Limited would be preparing to exhibit at some major events, but of course, this is no longer the case in the unusual times we find ourselves in.
However, rather than rest on our laurels, we instead want to keep our community together and do our part to help keep the convention experience a part of your summer… just from the comfort of your own home!
Today, we’re proud to launch the first Cloud Matsuri, which will be taking place on 30th – 31st May 2020. We’re inviting you to attend our first event of this kind completely free at CloudMatsuri.com, where you’ll be able to watch and keep up to date with the event as it unfolds on YouTube!
WHAT IS CLOUD MATSURI?
Cloud Matsuri is an online event that will be streamed in its entirety via YouTube on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May 2020, bringing the convention experience to you so you can stay safe at home. And best of all, it’s a completely free event!
The show will feature exclusive interviews and talks with special guests from the world of anime and more – we’ve already got some special guests and partners we can’t wait to tell you about!

SPECIAL GUESTS: INITIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
We mentioned we have some very special guests who will be joining us across the weekend during Cloud Matsuri, and we weren’t joking! We’re delighted and honoured to announce the first wave guests who will be joining us:
Eunyoung Choi
CEO & Executive Producer, Science SARU
Making her first public appearance since becoming the CEO of the studio she is a co-founder of earlier this year, Eunyoung Choi will be joining us to discuss her career and give you some insight into the industry and Science Saru’s impressive work, including the recent fan favourite Keep Your Hands off Eizouken.
Eiji Inomoto
President & Founder, Studio Orange
Studio Orange are specialists in CG animation, and we’re delighted to be welcoming the President and founder of Studio Orange, Eiji Inomoto, to Cloud Matsuri. Mr Inomoto will be discussing the history of the studio, as well as some of their output including Land of the Lustrous and the recent global smash-hit series Beastars.
Shuzo Shiota
President, Polygon Pictures
With over 35 years in the industry, Polygon Pictures have been a major part of the evolution of CG animation production. We’re delighted to welcome the President and founder of Polygon Pictures, Shuzo Shiota, to Cloud Matsuri to discuss the history of Polygon Pictures including its involvement in CG anime (such as Knights of Sidonia and AJIN: Demi-Human) and even major global western properties.
Yasuhiro Kamimura
CEO, GroundWorks Co., Ltd
Born in 1962, Mr. Kamimura met Director Hideaki Anno and other original members of Gainax through amateur activities during his college days. In 1991, he started working at Gainax, becoming its license manager in 2001.
In 2010, Mr. Kamimura set up GroundWorks Co., Ltd and became the CEO, managing character licensing of Evangelion and other works. In 2020, he was appointed as the CEO of Gainax Co., Ltd. holding the two posts concurrently.
Yasuhiro Kamimura will be joining us at CloudMatsuri to talk about his career to date, including managing a massive megabrand like Evangelion.

We’re delighted that our good friends at Manga UK – the UK’s longest running anime distributor who are now part of the Funimation family – wanted to be part of Cloud Matsuri and we’re thrilled to announce them as an official partner of the event! We can’t wait to reveal what they have planned for the event, and if you’re a fan of one particular piece of their catalogue, you’ll want to keep an eye out…
KOEI TECMO EUROPE
Our friends at Koei Tecmo Europe are also joining us for Cloud Matsuri and we couldn’t be happier to have them on board. With a panel over the weekend, Koei Tecmo Europe will be walking us through a demonstration of their exciting new forthcoming title, Fairy Tail the game.

HOW WILL CLOUD MATSURI WORK?
Simply put, it’s all going to be broadcast through a completely free live stream that you can catch at CloudMatsuri.com, with the stream itself powered by our AllTheAnime YouTube channel, https://youtube.com/alltheanime
On both Saturday and Sunday the broadcast will begin at 2PM GMT / 9AM EST / 6AM PST and run right the way through until 10PM GMT / 5PM EST / 2PM PST, with a variety of guests and panels scheduled throughout each day. Be sure to keep an eye out for all the details leading up to and during the event weekend.
There will be a complete schedule of what will be on offer updated and published as we get closer to the event. So you’ll be able to make your plans accordingly. Keep an eye on CloudMatsuri.com for the latest details.

Online Cosplay Masquerade
Of course one of the best parts of attending a convention for many people is seeing all the cosplay, or perhaps doing some of your own! We’d love to see your cosplay and share it with the world, so over on the AllTheAnime Instagram we’ll be running our very own Online Cosplay Masquerade!
To participate it’s simple: post an image of your cosplay and make sure to include the tag our Instagram (@alltheanime) and use the tag #CloudMatsuri – we’ll be picking photos to share across the weekend.
Virtual Artist Alley
Another core element of an event such as a comic con we absolutely love and can’t get enough of is the artist alley. We want to celebrate artists you’d typically find at an event looking for an opportunity to reach out to new people.
Across the weekend we want to spread your most eye-catching images on Instagram. If you want to be involved all you need to do it is share an image make sure to tag our Instagram (@AllTheAnime) and use the tag #CloudMatsuri in your post – anything that catches our eye will be selected and featured on our Instagram channel!
