The Dragon Dentist comes to Blu-ray/DVD in June!

If you’ve followed past activity of ours be it at events, listening to podcasts of ours or perhaps even reading through the archive of articles we bring you here at our blog, you’ll know we’re big fans of the work of Studio Khara.
The studio founded by Hideki Anno (creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion) was behind the Japan Anima(tor) Expo online short film project that saw the world exposed to a number of promising young talents and unique works. One of the works as part of the Japan Anima(tor) expo project was The Dragon Dentist. A project that was later expanded into a 2-part special feature. And we’re delighted to say that we can (finally) reveal the plans for our home video release of this!
It has been a while since we first announced this would be coming to home video, but today we’ll tell you what you can expect from our Blu-ray/DVD Limited Collector’s Edition set that will be available from 8th June 2020!

Synopsis: What do you find between a Dragon’s Teeth?
Going into war against a dragon takes incredible courage, but even that danger pales in comparison to the hazards of young Nonoko’s job. As a Dragon Dentist, she’s charged with venturing into the jaws of the country’s dragon protector to keep its pearly canines free of plaque, decay, and other debris.
One day, Nonoko discovers an unconscious soldier between her dragon’s teeth instead of a cavity, and she finds herself caught up in a series of events that have been foretold to bring disaster to her people!
Get ready for an incredible brush with destiny that leads two young people through the mouth of hell and towards certain doom as the creators of the new EVANGELION feature films unleash an epic unlike anything you’ve seen before in THE DRAGON DENTIST!

Suggested Retail Price*: £34.99

Our Collector’s Edition set due for release on 8th June will be presented in a rigid case to hold the hold contents. Inside the case you’ll find a digipack holding both the Blu-ray and DVD discs, along with a poster (34 x 40 cm) of the main key visual of the project, plus a 28-page booklet that includes information about the project released for the first-time in English!
The booklet will be divided into four sections: Characters; the World; Director Interview and Staff Comments.
The Characters section will bring you artwork and information on a variety of characters you’ll encounter while watching it. The section focusing on the world of The Dragon Dentist provides you with some background information on various elements you’ll encounter. Then we an interview with director Kazuya Tsurumaki as well as comments Otaro Maijo (Original Story/Screenplay) and Hideaki Anno (Production Supervisor, Director of audiography, founder of Studio Khara.)

On the Blu-ray and DVD discs you’ll get the two-part feature with both English and original Japanese with English subtitles viewing options.
