In the crime-ridden, mafia-governed city of Ergastulum, Worick and Nicolas are two “handymen” known as “Benriya” who would take any dirty job from either police or mafia — for a good price. After an assignment from police the two met and later joined by Alex, a former prostitute who got interested in the mysterious background of the team, in particular of Nicolas’ abilities.

“When I first heard about GANGSTA. I loved the thought that it was aimed at adults rather than a younger audience.” says Andrew Partridge, President of Anime Limited. “Other directorial experience for Shukou Marase includes Genocidal Orgun (from Project Itoh), Ergo Proxy, Dantes Inferno: Anime Animted Epic and Witch Hunter Robin; so we know he’s no stranger to the dark and grittier side of the anime spectrum. Plus the studio behind (one of my personal favourites) Samurai Champloo, Deadman Wonderland, and Michiko & Hatchin are handling the animation production. If you’ve seen the Japanese trailers for GANGSTA. that have surfaced online, you’ll get a fantastic preview of how well those two forces have come together.

We can confirm that Anime Limited will be bringing a home video release to the UK (TBC 2016) and we’re happy to say that we have partnered with Viewster.com to simulcast the series to give UK/Ireland the opportunity to watch the series with English subtitles during this summer season. (Start date TBA.)

Check out the Japanese promotional video for the series below.

We’ll be sure to keep you posted with more updates on all of our simulcasts as they become available.

Signing out~!
