It has been a long time coming for details as to what we have planned for our Ultimate Edition release of the classic series Eureka Seven but the time is now to stop waiting, as today we are very pleased to give you all the information on what to expect when our release of this arrives on 20th November 2017.

Synopsis: “Renton Thurston is a 14-year-old boy who lived with his mechanic grandfather in a backwater town. Every day he dreamed of being with the mercenary “Light Finding Operation (LFO)” aircraft pilot group “Gekkostate” and riding “Trapar” particle waves– a sport called “reffing”– with their charismatic leader Holland, especially when faced with his father’s acclaimed past or his grandfather’s desire to protect him. When a young girl named Eureka riding the original LFO, the “Nirvash typeZERO”, asks his grandfather for a tune-up, she inadvertently brings the attention of the military to the garage; as a result, the garage is destroyed and Renton is forced to deliver a new type of interface– the “Amita Drive”– to the Nirvash.

After a heated fight in which the Nirvash destroys the military LFOs by unleashing an immense amount of power, Renton is invited into Gekkostate. However, he quickly realizes that behind the facade of a traveling group of mercenaries is a very bitter reality.

WHAT’S IN THE ULTIMATE EDITION

As this is the first-time the series is coming to Blu-ray in the UK, we felt this series deserved to get the Ultimate Edition treatment. So here’s what you can expect in our release

Eureka Seven - Ultimate Edition
Eureka Seven – Ultimate Edition
  • The entire series, 50 episodes, in both English and original Japanese with subtitles, plus a slew of extras across the discs too. (More details on the discs themselves below.)
  • The discs will be housed inside two separate digipacks (pictured top right), and those digipacks will then be housed inside their own rigid case (top left) so they can sit proudly on your shelf with your anime collection. The rigid case & digipack are the same height as other releases of ours – so it’ll fit like a glove into your collection. The artwork used on the rigid case has not been used on a home video release before! Worth noting that this packaging (rigid case & digipack) is exclusive to our Ultimate Edition and will not be available separately.
  • Also included an A3 sized poster (pictured bottom right) that will be house on arrival inside its own poster tube inside the same box as all the other contents. This won’t be available separately.
  • And as if that wasn’t enough, we also have an exclusive A4 sized 144-page Art Book (pictured at the bottom in the centre) combining every possible bit of art we could get our hands on; there’s loads of art included that has never previously been released in the United Kingdom before! All that included has led to the book being divided into the following sections –
    • Part 1: Characters
    • Part 2: LFOs
    • Part 3: The World of Eureka Seven
      • 3.1: Settings
      • 3.2: Props
    • Part 4: Animation in Action
    • Part 5: Artworks

It’s safe for us to say that no art book of this kind has ever been created for Eureka Seven; so works as an excellent companion piece to the series itself and will not be available separately.

And it’s also worth us noting all the contents will be sent in purpose built packaging to safely store each individual component during delivery. This box itself isn’t part of the Ultimate Edition, but is simple a box designed specifically for shipping the Ultimate Edition in. This concept was something we first tried with our Fullmetal Alchemist Ultimate Edition release last year and we were very happy with the results of that. Following on on from that we’ve taken feedback of our own, coupled with feedback we received from both customers and the retailers who shipped them, to create packaging that the Eureka Seven Ultimate Edition will be shipped in.

EUREKASEVEN_ultimate_3DOn the discs –

HOW MUCH IS IT? WHERE CAN I BUY THE ULTIMATE EDITION?

The suggested retail price of the Eureka Seven Ultimate Edition is £179.99, however retailers very rarely charge the suggested retail price for a title so you expect to pay less than that for it. For example, (at time of writing) HMV Online are charging £129.99 for this.

Our AllTheAnime.com web shop will start taking orders for the Eureka Seven Ultimate Edition during the week commencing 30th October 2017; you never know we might have a special offer to coincide with that too 😉

But if you want to get in early, some retailers are already taking orders for this –

F.A.Q. on Eureka Seven Ultimate Edition

–What’s the release date?
20th November 2017

–Is this exclusive to any one retailer?
No, but there are only 1000 units of this across all retailers.

–Are you releasing a standard edition Blu-ray or DVD or the series?
We will be releasing the series on standard edition Blu-ray, yes. This will be released over two parts with Part 1 due on 20th November and Part 2 will follow on 11th December 2017.

As for a DVD release; it’s something we’re looking into but have no announcements to make at this time. Obviously if/when there is news we’ll make it known.

–You announced you’d be releasing Eureka Seven ages ago. Why has it taken so long?
Sometimes these things just take time. At the end of the day while we appreciate it’s been a long wait, it’ll be more than worth it. We wanted to bring a true Ultimate Edition of the series to the United Kingdom and we feel we’re achieving that with this release 🙂

–What region code are the discs?
All of our release are intended for UK & Ireland only, so the Blu-ray discs are coded for Region B and the DVD disc is coded for Region 2.

–What kind of audio is the English and Japanese language option in?
English 2.0 & Japanese 2.0.

–Given the age of the show, is the footage in widescreen?
No. As the series was made before 16:9 was the norm, all footage of the series itself is in 4:3. Meaning there will be black borders at the side of the screen to retain the original aspect ratio.

–Is this series in Native HD?
Simply put, no. This series was created before television series being animated in HD was the norm. So this is an upscale (otherwise known as an “SD Remaster”). This is why the discs being used (as authored by our friends at Funimation) are in 1080i.

–Are the movie and/or Eureka Seven AO set to be included in Ultimate Edition?
Simply put. no. We don’t hold the rights to either of them but to be fair we did always make it known we’re releasing an Ultimate Edition set for the original TV series specifically. So even if either of those had been a possibility to include, neither were factored in from the outset.

And that just about wraps-up this post on what to expect in our Eureka Seven Ultimate Edition Blu-ray set, coming on 20th November 2017. We hope you’re looking forward to adding this to your collection.

Signing out~!

Jeremy

I'll be buying the standard edition Blu-ray or DVD of the series, because it will be split over two parts like what is mentioned above which will be easier for me to buy.

I'm a little disappointed to hear that the audio is a stereo mix and the visuals didn't get a touch up like they did in Hi-Evolution 1. I'll still consider buying this Ultimate Edition or a complete collection (S1, S2, Pocketful of Rainbows, Hi-Evolution 1-4) if it's ever made. I'd also love to a first-hand music collection if I can find one.
