Konosuba! Legend of Crimson movie comes to select UK cinemas on 12th December
December 5, 2019 · 23 comments
We’ve been talking a lot about anime on the big screen of late, from our recent screenings of Promare through to the exciting news of Weathering With You coming to the UK in January. But we’re not done with our theatrical anime plans for the year just yet, as today we’re proud to confirm that we’re teaming up with our great friends at Crunchyroll to bring a beloved Crunchyroll Movie Night to UK cinemas!
What’s more, the subject of this movie night is one of our current office favourites, as you’ll be able to catch Konosuba the Movie – Legend of Crimson in selected cinemas across the country, giving you a chance to spend some time with everyone’s favourite bunch of isekai idiots and delve into the past of the explosive Megumin.
You’ll be able to catch the film on the big screen for one night only, on Thursday, December 12th*, so as time is short don’t hesitate and book your tickets now! Screenings can be found in selected locations at the following cinema chains:
If you want to see a list of cinemas screening the film alongside screening times (where available), scroll a little further down this blog post. Please note that some Vue screenings may not yet be populated at the time of publication, so check the aforementioned list to see if the film is coming to a cinema near you!
* UPDATE (December 15th) – a number of additional and rearranged screenings have now been added to selected locations over the coming week, with a select number in early January 2020 – you can also find details of these screenings below.
Firstly however, for all of the details about the film, we have a little more for you below.
Synopsis:
A video game-loving shut-in, Satou Kazuma’s life should’ve ended when he was hit by a truck, but through a twist in fate, he ends up reincarnating in another world–and dragging the goddess, Aqua, along with him.
“I’m going to enjoy the life of an adventurer that I’ve always fantasized about from RPGs! Time to be the hero!” But in spite of his enthusiasm, only trouble was waiting for Kazuma.
Namely, the troublemaking goddess, Aqua; The wildly dorky mage, Megumin; And the unrelentingly delusional lady knight, Darkness; He ends up forming a party with these potentially powerful, but
incredibly unfortunate individuals, which leads to deep debt, being tried for treason, slaying the Demon King’s generals, and occasionally dying (again).
Then, one day, the Crimson Demon girl Yun Yun says something that makes the entire group freeze up: “I want to have your babies, Kazuma!”
Upon hearing the details, it turns out that the Crimson Demon village that Megumin and Yunyun are from is facing a threat that could mean it’s ending. Kazuma and his gang follow Yunyun, who returns to the Crimson Demon village intent on saving it… when they are faced with their greatest threat yet! What will become of the unremarkable adventurer Kazuma’s life in another world?!

Where are you getting the times for Coventry because it's not listed on their website as showing there?

We're following up on some screenings which don't currently appear to be live, so hopefully they'll be added in due course. Stay tuned and keep checking the listings would be our advice!

Going seeing this in Manchester next week! Been waiting for them to announce UK Cinema dates for ages.

Looks like Southampton disappeared from the list? Is it coming back?
Andy Hanley
December 5, 2019 7:12 pm
Unfortunately the Southampton was unable to slot the film into their schedule on December 12th. They are looking into screening the film at a future date however, so stay tuned and we'll update people as and when we hear more details. Apologies for the disappointment, but they are still working to ensure you can see the film there in the near future!

Thanks for the information Andy. Hopefully it is before Sunday 15th as most of us students will be going home then. If not I guess it's a train journey to portsmouth...

Will there be a slot for Hull? Mirai was shown last year but sadly Promare wasn’t. I this film would at least get in one of the cinemas here.

December 5, 2019 11:21 pm
Unfortunately it's unlikely that additional screenings will be added at this time, but we'll certainly let people know if that changes at any point.

Looks like London Heymarket is already sold out... Any chance of asking/begging Odeon of extending the screening? Like you did with Promare?
Andy Hanley
December 7, 2019 8:31 pm
We are talking to Odeon to see if they're interested in adding additional screenings at any of their sold out locations - no promises, but we'll let people know if any more screenings get added!

Hi Andy Thanks for getting back and I appreciate your efforts. I managed to get to Odeon Greenwich to see the movie but I'm sorry to say I and the rest of the audience were unable to understand what was going on for about 5 to 10mins as they played the film in the wrong aspect ratio meaning the subtitles were cut off. This was flagged but it took 5mins for a manager to be engaged to allow a member of staff to adjust the projector so we could just about see the screen in what now looked like 4:3. While I was able to enjoy the rest of the film it was a real shame this happened as it looks like I'll need to take a train to reading or wait for a blue ray to see the full film again.

I saw Leicester on the list from CrunchyRoll, but it seems to be missing here?
Andy Hanley
December 7, 2019 8:30 pm
Unfortunately the Leicester location was unable to slot the film into their schedule on December 12th. They are looking into screening the film at a future date however, so stay tuned and we’ll update people as and when we hear more details. As things stand we expect this to be in early January. Apologies for the disappointment, but they are still working to ensure you can see the film there in the near future!

Looks like a number of places including Leicester now have it available on 7/1/20 with showcase.

Great idea but it looks as though Mid East Anglia isn't covered. - Vue doesn't have the film on their website and the link on this page doesn't work. - Odeon has a showing in Milton Keynes with about 30 seats so obviously thats sold out - Showcase in Peterborough inst showing it So thats Peteroborugh, Cambridge, and Milton Keynes all out. My only option is to drive to Norwich or Birmingham. Again, great idea but hopefully next time we can get full coverage on stuff like this. I have already emailed the cinemas to show my disappointment. If we all do the same, maybe it will have an impact.

We've checked the Vue web site link and it's working fine for us. We'd certainly encourage people to let their local cinema know if they want films like this screened, as if enough people are interested it increases the likelihood of those cinemas booking films in the future.

booked my tickets for 6.30 at vue purley way, i am confused though as the 8pm showing says subbed and the 6.30 doesent have that but it should because there isnt a dub showing?
Andy Hanley

All screenings of the film are subtitle-only, so that will simply be an omission on their web site listing.

My son and his friends tried to watch it in Harrow where the film also didn't work. After an hour of nothing - the management came out and told them the film was corrupted and unwatchable. Very disappointing.

Hi, the screening at Vue Romford didn't work - after about an hour the staff came in and told us they had been unable to fix the "technical issues" and we got refunded our tickets. Are there any plans for another screening at Romford in the near future?
