Newswire #67.5 BONUS – 15th April 2016

April 15, 2016 · 2 comments

It’s not often that we post a bonus Newswire, and usually when we do it’s to share some exciting news to from an event and such, unfortunately today we have to start the weekend by announcing that our release of Durarara!! x2 Shou is being delayed. We have not taken this decision without careful thought, but it comes after we received a finished sample of our Durarara!! x2 Shou Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray.

To give you full context, when a product has been produced we receive some early copies at our headquarters, this is how we bring you unboxings and such prior to their release date. Today we received a few samples of our Durarara!! x2 Shou Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray and came across something that we felt was less than adequate, and in fact far below the standard of quality you expect from us and our products. This problem relates to the rigid case housing the contents specifically.

Due to a production error the quality of the design on the rigid case has come out less than adequate compared the rest of the product, and our other releases in general. The art is impacted due to the use of lower resolution images that were NOT the final files signed off by Anime Limited. Though this has not impacted the remainder of the release, to be perfectly clear.

To try and highlight this as best we can please take a look at the images below where we compare the quality of the print on the rigid case to the art featured in the booklet, included in this release. We’ve tried to take photos as best as we can, but to be completely honest it’s a lot more noticeable when you have the product in your hand.

First of all we compare the front of the rigid case to the same found inside the booklet. (You can click on the images below to enlarge them.)

Next up, the reverse side of the rigid case compared to the same art found inside the booklet. In this instance, you can see some of the character art itself is blurred on the case.

And finally, we have the spine of the rigid case, arguably the clearest sign that something has gone awry, the spine of the rigid case.

As we mentioned, we cannot allow this to pass our standards check and have decided to delay our release until new rigid cases have been produced. All other part of the release have come out brilliantly, so it is literally just the rigid case that had been impacted. On behalf of everyone at Anime Limited we apologise for this but we wanted to let you know as soon as we could about this. Allowing for timings to create the new rigid case, the new release date of Durarara!! x2 Shou on both Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray and standard DVD will be around the 30th May 2016. (Date TBC)

If you have any questions about this please feel free to post them in the comments below, send us a message through Facebook or Twitter or email Jeremy@AllTheAnime.com and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

It’s not the way we wanted to end the week, but we wanted to make you aware of this as soon as possible.

Signing out~!

Jeremy

This blows for those who are waiting for this to be released. Normally I would be one of those. But the lack of the missing bonus OVA episode really pisses me off. WHy do the Amercians get this episode while we dont? Same goes for the enxt two arcs. Im boycotting thise releases. I mean the prices for Durarara is already higher then most anime and then the OVA episodes are not even available. Really, im not gonna buy it untill those OVA episodes are included.
