NEWSWIRE: May/June 2026 Pre-Orders
May 6, 2026 · 13 comments
UPDATED 01/06/2026: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time pre-order details now added!
Having dropped our latest newswire a little later than usual following our spring sale (thanks to all who participated by the way!), it’s time to get back on schedule with our usual early month newswire to give you the lowdown on everything happening this May… and most of June too, just to be generous!
Well, I say generous, but the start of June will probably see us still recovering from MCM London Comic Con, where we’ll be bringing you a World Premiere of Kyoto Animation’s amazing new series Sparks of Tomorrow – with the show’s director in attendance and exclusive merchandise for sale – before it hits Netflix in July! You can find the full details elsewhere on our blog.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled pre-order announcements – let’s start with recapping our previously announced May pre-orders, before giving you the Freedom to peruse what else we have in store for you this month!
Let’s get to it!
Undead Unluck Part 1 Collector’s Edition
If you’re a fan of madcap anime adventures like Kill la Kill, then today is your lucky day! No, wait…. today is your unlucky day! (I work in marketing, am I allowed to write that?)
Anyway, we announced this a little while back, but we’re very excited to finally unveil our release of Undead Unluck, David Productions’ eye-popping and kinetic adaptation of the madcap supernatural action adventure manga from the Shonen Jump stable. If you didn’t spot it while it was streaming, then this is a great chance to catch up on what you missed and nab this hidden gem.
(Also, the protagonist of the show is named Andy – I mean, what’s not to like about that?…)
“Andy, a Negator with the ability “Undead”, has been long in search for someone with the ability to give him a ‘real death’. Fuko Izumo brings misfortune to those around her due to her ability “Unluck”. The two decide to join the Union, an organization which aims to control and protect the world from unidentified phenomena. The two uncover the mystery of the world as they search for the “greatest death ever”.”

Given the show’s striking visuals, you won’t be surprised to see that we’ve had a ball with this release and its bold aesthetics, to make sure it looks great on your shelf!
First up, you’ll note that we’re offering up a storage box to hold the complete series here – we know this is something you all love, so you’ll be all set for the release of Part 2! Within that storage box you’ll find the regular rigid slipcase which holds part one of the series, and inside that an Amaray which holds the two Blu-ray discs which comprise episodes 1-12 of the show, with both English and Japanese audio with English subtitles.
Rounding things off is a 24-page booklet filled with character bios and design artwork, plus a glossary of the show’s important terms, concepts and powers, and a deep dive into the animation work for some of the show’s key scenes complete with comments from the series’ director.

Having waxed lyrical about the visuals, it would be remiss of me not to show you both side of the Part 1 slipcase, which you can see above. Then there’s the storage box, which you can take a peek at in all of its glory below.

Part 1 of Undead Unluck releases in the UK on May 18th, and our Early Bird pre-orders for Part 1 open on Thursday May 7th. So set a reminder and don’t miss out!

Keep your eyes peeled for the full details in our next Newswire!
Labyrinth Steelbook / Labyrinth Collector’s Edition
You might have heard on the grapevine that we’ll releasing the classic Jim Henson film Labyrinth on 4K UHD Blu-ray in the UK… and it’s true! So if you had “Anime Limited works on a David Bowie film” on your bingo card then congratulations!
“From visionary filmmaker Jim Henson comes the unforgettable fantasy of a 16-year-old girl (Academy Award® winner Jennifer Connelly) who’s been given only 13 hours to traverse a dangerous and wonderful labyrinth to rescue her baby brother after her wish for him to be taken away is granted by the Goblin King, played by the iconic David Bowie.”

We’ll be releasing the film as both a three-disc Steelbook containing film on 4K UHD Blu-ray, the film on Blu-ray, and a Blu-ray disc of video extras.
For the true Labyrinth lovers, we’ll also be releasing a 4K Collector’s Edition which contains the same Steelbook edition and disc contents, but also features a rigid slipcase and a 64-page production art and photo booklet. You can check out an early peek of how we’re expecting that to look below!

Standard Editions (DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD) will all follow later in the year.
Both editions will be available retail-wide, with a release date of 22nd June – pre-orders open at our own web store on Thursday 14th May!

The Dark Crystal Steelbook / The Dark Crystal Collector’s Edition
Of course, you can’t release one Jim Henson masterpiece without also releasing the other… so naturally we’re releasing The Dark Crystal too!
“In another world, another time, The Crystal of Truth – a source of Balance in the Universe – was shattered, becoming The Dark Crystal, and was ruled by the wicked Skeksis as they poisoned the world. Now, as the convergence of the three suns approaches, the Crystal must be healed, or darkness will reign forevermore! It’s up to Jen and Kira — the last of their race — to fulfill the prophecy that a Gelfling will return the missing shard to the Crystal and destroy the Skeksis’ evil empire. But will their courage be any match for the unknown dangers that await them? Revisit this masterful fantasy epic from the brilliant imagination of Jim Henson.“

Just like Labyrinth, you can choose from a three-disc Steelbook containing film on 4K UHD Blu-ray, the film on Blu-ray, and a Blu-ray disc of video extras, or a 4K Collector’s Edition which contains the same Steelbook edition and disc contents, but also features a rigid slipcase and a 64-page production art and photo booklet. Again, standard editions will follow later in the year.

Both editions of The Dark Crystal will also be available retail-wide, with the same release date of 22nd June – pre-orders at AllTheAnime.com also open on Thursday 14th May!

Now, onto the new announcements, starting with…
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom 4K UHD + Blu-ray Collector’s Edition
We know a lot of you have been waiting on this for a long time (and we thank you for your patience), but at long last we’re ready to unveil our home video release of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom!
In C.E.75, the fighting still continues. There are independence movements and aggression by Blue Cosmos… In order to calm the situation, a global peace-monitoring agency called COMPASS is established, with Lacus as its first president. As members of COMPASS, Kira and his comrades intervene into various regional battles. Then, a newly established nation called Kingdom of Foundation proposes a joint operation against a Blue Cosmos stronghold…

Needless to say, we’ve ensured that this new release will fit nicely into your existing Gundam Collection, with a branded rigid slipcase to store the contents. Within that box you’ll find an Amaray containing the film on both 4K UHD Blu-ray and regular Blu-ray. The 4K UHD disc contains the film with an HDR presentation in HDR10, plus a Japanese Dolby Atmos track alongside Japanese stereo and English 5.1 audio tracks.
Beyond the discs, each copy will contain an individually numbered art card, alongside not one but two books! First up, we have a 60-page art book packed with character and mech designs, alongside an interview with director Mitsuo Fukuda. Then, we have our second book, a 48-page booklet filled with key animation from throughout the film for your enjoyment.
Here’s a quick look at both sides of that glorious slipcase for this edition – just imagine how good it’s going to look on your shelf!

While a 4K UHD Standard Edition will follow later in the year, if you so wish you’ll also be able to pick up our Standard Edition Blu-ray at the same time as this Collector’s Edition – here’s how that edition will look on your shelf:

Pre-orders for both editions open on Thursday 21st May, so we’ll see you there!

The Dangers in My Heart – Season 2 Collector’s Edition
From Freedom… to Danger, and a chance to continue the adventures of this unlikely (and unexpectedly sweet) pairing!
Kyotaro Ichikawa’s in a quandary. His relationship with Anna Yamada keeps going in unexpected directions. However, his school doesn’t have classes on understanding the opposite sex.
Recently, fortune has given him an unexpected break… a broken arm. But it’s the perfect excuse for Anna to help him with some things that are hard to do one-handed. If he can bring himself to ask her. Of course, Anna’s just as confused on her end, and they’ve got terrifying events like Valentine’s Day that they’ll have to navigate together in the second season of THE DANGERS IN MY HEART!

Much like our Season 1 Collector’s Edition, this second season comes spread across two Blu-ray discs packed into an Amaray case, alongside a poster and a 40-page booklet filled with character designs, setting artwork, and interviews with director Hiroaki Akagi, animation producer Yosuke Sakurai, character designer Masato Katsumata and composer Kensuke Ushio; topping it all off, the booklet also features a bonus manga chapter! All of this is contained within a rigid slipcase, of course.

The series will also be made available on Standard Edition Blu-ray at the same time, of course, with pre-orders for both editions opening on Thursday 28th May.

BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3 Collector’s Edition
You’ve been asking… begging for it even… for a while now, and today we can finally bring you the third instalment of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War on Blu-ray. Was it worth waiting for? Of course it was!
THE BLOOD WAR BETWEEN SOUL REAPERS AND QUINCIES INTENSIFIES after the Wandenreich’s second wave of attack transforms the Seireitei into a dimension known as the Schatten Bereich. Undaunted, the Thirteen Court Guard Squads reclaim their stolen Bankai to strike back and defeat several of the Stern Ritter’s most powerful members, the Wörtlich.
As the battle wages on, Renji Abarai, Rukia Kuchiki, and finally Ichigo Kurosaki each complete their training at the Royal Palace and return to the Seireitei to help the Soul Reapers with their newly acquired powers and abilities. However, Ichigo’s attempt to stop Yhwach is thwarted by Uryu Ishida. A shocked Ichigo demands Uryu to explain his true intention for pointing his weapon toward his friends. But the only answer he gets from Uryu is a rain of arrows to signal the end of their friendship. With Uryu and the Royal Guards at his side, Yhwach successfully breaks past the Soul Shield Membrane barrier and finally sets foot into the sacred realm of the Royal Palace.
But the Quincies’ advance seemingly ends after facing Squad Zero, who use their awesome powers to defeat Yhwach and the rest of the uninvited guests. However, the real battle and despair have yet to start… Soul Reapers and Quincies. Ichigo and Uryu. Beliefs and Resolve. The never-ending conflict between light and dark clashes above the dark-blue heavens.

The configuration of this third volume of the series in Collector’s Edition form should be familiar to all of you who own the first two sets, comprising a rigid slipcase, an Amaray containing the two Blu-ray discs, and a hefty 76-page booklet packed with character design artwork, visuals, and a discussion between series director Tomohisa Taguchi and original creator Tite Kubo.

Here’s that slipcase (above) in all its multi-sided glory. Alongside this Collector’s Edition, the series is of course also going to be available in Standard Edition form, which you can see below.

Additionally, in keeping with previous parts, we’d also highly recommend you look out for another special HMV exclusive version, featuring a bonus O-card with exclusive artwork too via their own stores!

Pre-orders for both the Collector’s and Standard Editions open on Thursday 4th June, so get your zanpakuto ready!

Bastard!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy- Season 1 Collector’s Edition
It’s not every day I get to repeatedly write the word bastard in a blog post, so you’ll have to forgive me for making the most of it when the opportunity presents itself. You’ll also have to forgive me for hearing this title shouted by Sean Bean whenever I see it crop up too…
Anyway, I digress, as our final pre-order for this Newswire is (say it loudly)… Bastard!!
Fifteen years ago, the wizard Dark Schneider led the armies of the Divine Kings in a ruthless bid to conquer the world. Ultimately, Schneider failed and was sealed away into the body of a newborn, but his generals escaped and now the Kings are back with a new plan: unleashing a God of Destruction! Barring their way, however, is the kingdom of Metallicana, where the Great Priest’s daughter will unleash a surprise weapon of her own: Dark Schneider reborn! Can Yoko control her resurrected ally, or will the result be total Armageddon? The ultimate grudge match explodes in BASTARD!! -HEAVY METAL, DARK FANTASY!

This complete first season of Bastard set contains the series across three Blu-ray discs in an Amaray case, alongside an A3 poster, a set of three art cards, and a 16-page booklet featuring an article about Bastard from Andrew Osmond. All of this, of course, comes enclosed within a rigid slipcase.

A standard edition of Bastard is, as always, also available if that’s your preference.

Pre-orders for both editions open on Thursday 18th June, you b- okay, I’ll stop now.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time Deluxe Edition
We close out the month of June by bringing our journey through the earlier film works of Mamoru Hosoda to the end, as The Girl Who Leapt Through Time gets a much-deserved Deluxe Edition treatment!
Makoto is a typical teenage girl who spends most of her days slacking off with friends. One day while rushing to meet her aunt, she nearly gets hit by a train, but at the last second, finds herself jumping backwards through time to avoid the accident. She immediately makes use of her newfound ability to re-do every minor inconvenience – from poor exam results to awkward confessions of love. However, when faced with the consequences of tampering with time, Makoto must do everything she can to avoid a dire future that can’t be reversed.
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is a beloved early film from Mamoru Hosoda, the Academy Award-nominated director behind BELLE, Wolf Children, Summer Wars, and more. Hosoda weaves together the timeless, breathtaking visuals for which he is known with a tender-hearted story of a girl navigating first love, time travel, and the perilous choices that come with both.

If you’ve picked up our Deluxe Editions of Summer Wars and Wolf Children (and you really should if you haven’t already), the general format of this edition will be very familiar to you, featuring as it does the film on 4K UHD Blu-ray, the film on regular Blu-ray, a bonus Blu-ray disc (featuring an audio commentary for the film and trailers), and on top of it all the movie’s Original Soundtrack on CD!
All of this comes in a rigid slipcase with clean artwork covered by an O-card, with the discs safely stored in an artistic Digipak. Also within that slipcase you’ll find a 20-page booklet, a series of five art cards, a bonus metallic art card, and an acrylic keychain.*
*Tissues not included, you’ll need to provide those yourself for the emotional ending to the movie.
Alongside this, much like the other films we’re also releasing a Steelbook edition, featuring the film on both 4K UHD and regular Blu-ray with its own piece of clean stunning artwork beneath that J-card.

Finally, regular Blu-ray and DVD editions are, of course, also available – a standard 4K UHD edition will follow in the future.

Pre-order for all of these editions open at AllTheAnime.com from June 25th – time waits for no-one, so be sure to be ready to place your order as soon as they go live!
We’ll be back in July for another set of news, so watch this space for more soon!

Happy to see more Bleach :) Any plans on releasing some more older, retro anime? US companies like Maiden Japan, Discotek, etc. do some cool older stuff, would be fun to get some stuff like that in Region B blu-rays. I've recently become intersted in the older Tomino anime he made after the original Gundam, Space Runaway Ideon, but the only english blu-ray I can find is the out of print US one from a few years ago that's now like $800+ on ebay 💀 Also still waiting on more UC Gundam releases, I really want those OVAs like 8th MS Team and War in the Pocket 🙏 Also some of the stuff I see your French counterparts releasing I'm hoping you'll bring to English some day too, like Urusei Yatsura or Tom Sawyer? They have a nice Macross Plus Collector's Edition too, which you never released for some reason... The giant Ultimate and Sharon Apple editions are nice and all, but not the most affordable 🥺

Still hoping for some more 80s/90s anime releases. For example, You're Under Arrest just had a Japanese blu ray release - I think you guys would do a great job with an English release 😉

Unrelated to this newswire (I'd love that Dark Crystal collectors but I'm currently a bit skint), but I've just seen that GKIDS are doing a theatrical rerelease of Tekkonkinkreet; are there any plans for you guys to do similar over here? That film is one of my all-time favourites and I would kill to see it on the big screen given how unbelievably stunning it is. I have the collectors bluray you guys put out already but it'd just be next level in the cinema.

Would love more of Lupin the Third releases. Maybe part I, part II and part III? :) The movies (especially Hayao Miyazaki one) and the OVAs. Sadly missed out on Part IV collector's edition, but looking frequently on eBay.

Also, just to clarify. The Product Details section of the page for the standard Blu-Ray edition of Gundam SEED Freedom says "This is a Limited Edition product. Once it appears as out-of-stock we do not expect there to be more stock available." This is correct and not an accidental carry over from the Collector's Edition page?
