We also exclusively reveal to you that all screenings in UK & Ireland will be the uncensored version of the film. For those not aware, there were two versions created, a censored version and an uncensored version. We opted to screen the uncensored version of the film as we knew fans would want to see that version if at all possible. And that’s exactly what you’re getting!

SAO_MovieABOUT SWORD ART ONLINE THE MOVIE

Synopsis: ““Ordinal Scale,” an ARMMO-RPG that was designed exclusively for “Augma.”

Following its release, it has become the most discussed game due to its advanced technology. In this game, players can raise their rank by collecting items that appear in various places in the real world and by defeating monsters. This “Ranking System” is the main feature of the game, and in this system, each player’s status is determined by their rank which is indicated by an ordinal number instead of a cardinal number.

As the result, high ranking players are given overwhelming power and often rank has become a major factor in deciding the outcome of a PvP battle.

You can watch the trailer for the film below.

F.A.Q. ABOUT UK & IRELAND THEATRICAL SCREENINGS
OF SWORD ART ONLINE THE MOVIE: ORDINAL SCALE
on 19th April

— When will the film be screened?
Preview screenings will be on 19th April 2017, with further screenings from 21st April. Please visit http://saothemovie.co.uk/ for more information.

— What language will this be shown in?
All screenings of the film in UK & Ireland will be in Japanese with English subtitles only.

NOTE – We are aware that an English language dub was announced recently, however we are not able to gain access to this in time for our screenings in April. We are investigating whether it may be possible to screen the English dub at a later date, but we have no confirmation on if that will actually be possible or not.

You mentioned earlier you will be screening an uncensored version of the film. Will be you be screening the censored version at all?
In short, no. All screenings in UK & Ireland will only be the uncensored version in Japanese with English subtitles.

Where will it be screened?
Please visit http://saothemovie.co.uk/ for listings information.

I don’t see a screening listed in my area? Will there be one added?
We’re working closely with our partners to have screenings available in as many locations as possible, however we should stress that ultimately the locations it will be screened in are chosen by the cinemas themselves and not us (Anime Limited / AllTheAnime). So if it is not being listed in your area we encourage to make your cinema aware that you’d really like to see it.

How long will it be in cinemas for?
At this stage it’s very difficult to tell. This will depend on the demand to see the film based on how well it performs on 19th April and the select cinemas on 21st April. So if your on the fence about going thinking it might be shown later, we can’t promise that. We strongly encourage you to watch this the first chance you have as it might be your only opportunity to do so.

Which cinema chains will be showing the film?
Happy to say we’ve once again partnered with Showcase Cinemas, PictureHouse, ODEON, VUE, Cineworld along with other independent locations in UK & Ireland for screening the film.

[Information above correct as of: 16th March 2017]

And that’s all the information we have for you! Book your tickets today!
