We mentioned we were planning to make a standard edition set of the Durarara!! available once we had completed our re-authoring of the Blu-ray discs (following our Collector’s Edition release) and given how well things are progressing on that front we are today we’re happy to confirm that we will be releasing a Standard Edition set of Durarara!! available on both DVD and Blu-ray from 8th June 2015.
NOTE: If you purchased our original Limited Edition Blu-ray set of Durarara!! you can apply for a set of replacement discs free of charge. (These will be the same discs being included in the Standard Edition release.) CLICK HERE for details on how too apply for a set of replacement discs.
The Standard Edition will contain all of the first season (24 episodes) plus the two OVA episodes (12.5: Heaven’s Vengeance and 25: World At Peace) in both the original Japanese language audio with English subtitles and with the English dub accompanied by song & song subtitles.
(FYI: It doesn’t matter which version you buy you will get both styles of artwork – the other artwork is a reversible cover!)
When it comes to our re-authoring of the discs we’ve taken the assets as seen on the Aniplex USA version of the series and made tweaks as needed. But what we’re happy to confirm that on both the DVD and Blu-ray versions there will be a dedicated sign & song translation subtitle option to accompany the English language audio. (For those who don’t know this was not an option on our previous Blu-ray release and we’re also under the impression that our release will be only English language Blu-ray release with this option!) The DVD version will be a 5-disc set, the Blu-ray version once again a 4-disc set. (Each set containing the same on-disc content.)
We’re going to be making a separate post in the near future highlighting what’s different about the discs compared to our original Blu-ray.
You can pre-order our Standard Edition DVD and Blu-ray releases of Durarara!! today from our AllTheAnime web shop HERE. If you’re looking for this on other retailers, such as Amazon, have no fear listings will be appearing on their respective sites over the next few weeks.
