Newswire #31 – 7th August 2015
August 7, 2015 · 7 comments
Later in the week than usual (moving new staff into Anime Ltd HQ – exciting but also time consuming alas), but it’s time for your weekly Newswire. Read on below for the latest tidbits on the likes of Tokyo Ghoul, Mobile Suit Gundam and more! Plus details on our Q4 lineup. Read on below for all the info.
NEWS/GENERAL UPDATES
~ As was revealed earlier this week on our social media channels, we have had confirmation from the BBFC this week that Tokyo Ghoul has been given a 15 certification and has passed uncut meaning that both our upcoming DVD and Collector’s Edition Blu-ray releases in September will be uncut and uncensored. You can pre-order your copy today. Here’s the listings on Amazon UK.
We also want to take the opportunity to make it known that our Collector’s Edition Blu-ray version of Tokyo Ghoul is limited strictly to 1000 units. So if you’re wanting to order that version you might want to think about doing so sooner rather than later.
~ During last weekend listings appeared on Amazon UK for many of our upcoming releases for the remainder of the year. You can find them below. (We’ve also added some notes about listings as appropriate below.)

*We want to make a note from the outset that the dates listed for Mobile Suit Gundam Parts 1 & 2 are currently placeholders and are not final. The reason for this is that we are aiming to be day-and-date with the US release. We know the date for Part 1 was amended on Amazon earlier this week, this is the reason for that. The date for Part 2 will likely be shifting as well, we’re waiting for confirmation but we anticipate it to be a December release at this stage. We’ve reflected this in our Upcoming Releases section below.
~ Speaking of Mobile Suit Gundam we made note in the Newswire last week we were waiting to hear if a particular episode that is being omitted from the US release will be included in our upcoming UK release or not. We have received confirmation about this and can today confirm that this episode will not be included in our upcoming release either. We would like to reiterate that this is not a decision of ours and is beyond our control, but we are still extremely excited to be bringing the series to the UK for the first time.
We know a few of you have been asking what extra content may be included in our Mobile Suit Gundam release. We’re still exploring on what is possible for our release in general, but can confirm any on-disc extras that are included in the US release will be present in our UK release as well. We should be able to confirm details on this in the coming weeks.
~ Another Gundam related note, Gundam Reconguista in G is being released in two parts, not as a complete box set as has been listed with some retailers. We’re working on getting this corrected as soon as possible but wanted to make a note about it here.
~ We know a few of saw movement on the release date of the Makoto Shinkai The Place Promised In Our Early Days/Voices of a Distant Star twin pack during the past week. Unfortunately the dates being advertised are not accurate as it is still currently TBC.
~ For those wondering about 009 Re:Cyborg, we can confirm the Collector’s Edition Blu-ray/DVD combi version will now be getting a release in September. You can pre-order your copy from Amazon UK HERE. A Standard Edition DVD version will follow at a later date.
~ Remember how I said last week we were finally (and I meant finally) going to be recording the next episode of our podcast. Well as you’ve probably figured out by now it didn’t happen but we’re happy to report that we have recorded a podcast this week with a special guest, Stephanie Sheh. For those of you not aware she is voice actor and also works behind-the-scenes of English language dub production. Her credits include being Sailor Moon in Sailor Moon, Yui in Sword Art Online and Nui Harime in Kill la Kill (to name a few.) She is also working on producing the English language dub of Mai Mai Miracle, so expect some details on how that is going to be included! You can expect this podcast to surface either over the weekend or early next week.
~ Speaking of Mai Mai Miracle, there was a big update sent to backers last week bringing you full up to speed on how things are going. If you haven’t read it be sure to check your inboxes, it’s well worth a read.

I was wondering, did you ever send out the Cowboy Bebop replacement sets for part 1? Because I applied when you announced the program and I still haven't recieved it.

Thankyou for not following the absolutely ridiculous decision Aniplex USA made to release Part 3 of SAO2 with 3 episodes(Caliber arc). 5 episodes is much better, not amazing but it's something I'd happily drop money on with Part 3.

Gonna have to get that FMP Ultimate Edition, despite already owning the US BDs. Damn shame about Reconguista in G being subtitle only. Still can't bring my self to buy subtitle-only releases, I don't care to support such things.

Is there a particular reason you're not releasing a complete Space Dandy on Blu Ray?

Hi, at this time we're only able to release a complete series set on DVD. There might be an opportunity for us to release a complete Blu-ray collection in the future, but at this time it's not possible. ^JG

@megagold5 That's because it's unlicensed in the United States where 99.9 percent of shows released here are dubbed. The lack of attention the the franchise there is nothing short of tragic. There are plenty of good recent unlicensed Gundam shows just waiting to be picked up and dubbed.

Don't get me wrong, I don't blame Anime Limited whatsoever, I know whose fault it is. I just wish it would get dubbed in the first place, thus I won't support sub-only releases in general. Unfortunately, USA companies have become wise to that fact that many people dont care/prefer to watch in Japanese. Would much prefer we got releases for dubbed Gundam. I needs me that 00 on Blu-Ray *staaaaaaaare~*.
