Since our theatrical release earlier this year and with its current run streaming on Screen Anime, there has been anticipation building for a home video release of the critically acclaimed, Weathering With You, the latest film from Makoto Shinaki (Your Name.)
Today, we’re delighted to say we can now tell you about what to expect from the UK home video release of the film!
So to cut right to the chase, we’re going to give you a quick rundown at the top of this post and will then given you a more detailed breakdown of our precise plans below.
Today we can announce there will be four different editions of Weathering With You being released in the UK later this year.
First up, on Monday, 28th September 2020, the following editions of the film will be available to add to your collection
~ Collector’s Edition Blu-ray/DVD/CD
This includes:
• Steelbook packaging
• Weathering With You on Blu-ray
• Weathering With You on DVD
• Original Soundtrack CD
~ Standard Edition Blu-ray

The Collector’s Edition, standard Blu-ray and standard DVD versions can all be pre-ordered today from our AllTheAnime shop, as well as other retailers including Amazon, Zavvi and Base (where listings will be updated to reflect the contents of the Collector’s Edition in particular very soon)
But that’s not all! For the biggest fans of the film and the work of Makoto Shinkai, we’ll also be releasing additionally, a short time later on Monday 2nd November 2020, the following very special edition exclusively from our friends at Zavvi.com:

Synopsis: High school freshman Hodaka Morishima leaves his home on an isolated island and moves to Tokyo, but he quickly finds himself in financial trouble. We’ve said a few times already, but we want to reiterate from the outset that this version of Weathering With You will currently ONLY be available at Zavvi.com – we’re delighted to be partnering with them to bring you this very special release exclusively through them!
Within this edition you will get the exact same Steelbook packaging, Blu-ray disc and CD Soundtrack as noted for the Collector’s Edition version (see above), but in addition to that we have some very notable extras!

F.A.Q. (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS) SECTION
~ Will the 4K UHD Blu-ray disc in the Zavvi.com Exclusive Deluxe Edition be available separately?
Simply put, no. We only have clearance to include a 4K version of the film in the Deluxe Edition specifically.
~ Is there a DVD version of the film in the Deluxe Edition?
No, there isn’t – this edition is Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray only.
~ Will the Deluxe Edition really only be available at Zavvi.com?
At this time Zavvi.com will be the only place where you can order this edition.
~ Will be there be any kind of digital version of the film available?
The film is still available on Screen Anime until July 25th (so there’s still time to catch it!) – beyond this, digital availability is something being looked into, but we don’t have any announcements to make about a digital release of the film.
~ When talking about the 4K UHD Blu-ray you said “first UK announcement regarding a 4K UHD Blu-ray release”, does this mean you have more in the works?
We don’t have any other news concerning 4K UHD Blu-ray releases as things stand. This doesn’t mean we won’t do any more in the future, but this is a brand new venture for us.
JUST ONE MORE THING…
If you’ve made it all the way to the bottom of this information-packed post, you’re clearly a big Makoto Shinkai fan, and so you deserve to be rewarded with some important news.
As you doubtless all know, all of us here at Anime Limited are huge fans of Mr. Shinkai’s works, and since the company’s inception we’ve worked on releases of many of his titles, all the way from his early works such as The Place Promised in our Early Days through to the beautiful Garden of Words, before his career truly exploded into life with Your Name and Weathering With You.
Until now, our Makoto Shinkai catalogue has contained a couple of notable gaps in the form of two titles that were unavailable to us, but today we’re beyond thrilled to confirm that this is no longer the case, and that Anime Limited is now the home of the entire Makoto Shinkai theatrical film catalogue.
Yes, that’s right, we can now announce that both 5 Centimetres per Second and Children Who Chase Lost Voices From Deep Below (also known as Journey to Agartha) are now part of the Anime Limited catalogue, and both titles will be returning to the UK on Blu-ray from ourselves in due course. We’ll be announcing full details as and when we have them, but from the early planning stage we’re confident that you’ll want to get your hands on our edition of both films!

Saddened and angry that the better edition is "exclusive" to Zavvi - one of the worst UK film suppliers on the planet. On top of this, you make the Collector's Edition that was on Amazon, a waste of time too. This is a monumental failing on your part. You need to stop making exclusives with Zavvi. Do it via Amazon, that everyone can order from, and most people can trust!

I like almost everything from this post. But I really hate exclusives, if you had to have an exclusive I would have preferred you kept it yourself or amazon in this case amazon would have been the lesser of two evils. I dislike greatly being forced to buy from Zavvi. They've gone down hill in recent years. I hope you reconsider so I won't have to buy from Zavvi. Also I'm really glad to hear about the other movies coming to your collection.
