Newswire #43 – 28th October 2015

October 28, 2015 · 0 comments

MCM London Comic Con weekend has been and gone and my word was there a lot of news coming out of it from us, right? This week’s Newswire is going to be following up on a lot of news release from over this past weekend, so if you’ve missed any of it have no fear as this post will bring you completely up to speed and then give you latest information too.

Post-MCM London Comic Con Notes

~ Before we go any further we want to thank everybody who stopped by our booth and/or attended our panels at MCM London Comic Con, and/or attended the inaugural MCM Loves Anime event The Crystal this past weekend. It was great to see so many of you and we hope you had a great weekend.

~ So let’s begin proper by running down everything that was announced by us over the weekend, each scheduled for release in the UK in 2016.

  • Season 1 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is coming to Blu-ray in 2016
  • Tokyo ESP, tentatively scheduled for a February 2016 release.
  • Ninja Slayer From Animation
  • Expelled From Paradise, tenatively scheduled for January 2016
  • Tokyo Marble Chocolate
  • Anthem of the Heart
  • Claymore (Blu-ray only)
  • Prison School
  • Attack on Titan Junior High
  • The Murder Case of Hana & Alice
  • Brothers Conflict
  • Selected Infector WIXOSS
  • Snow White with the Red HairAnd in addition to the above, as part of our partnership with Sunrise it was announced we will be bringing the following Gundam series to the UK in 2016:
  • Mobile Suit Gundam Zeta (aka Gundam Z)
  • Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ (aka Gundam Double Zeta)
  • Turn A Gundam

That’s a big list of titles and today we wanted to follow up on each one for you. This list below includes some comments on each from our company president, Andrew Partridge too. Read on below for an update on each.

IMG_7288The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya (Season 1)
Coming to Blu-ray in 2016.
Andrew Partridge: “I licensed this season back when I was at Bandai and it did receive a DVD release in the UK, however once Bandai went under the first season of this very much went into limbo in the UK, being out-of-print for some time. So I’m delighted we can finally bring the first season back to the UK and the fact it will be on Blu-ray makes it even better.”

IMG_7287Expelled From Paradise
Will be coming to Blu-ray and DVD in January 2016. (More details to follow.)
Andrew Partridge: “The work of Gen Urobochi is an office favourite, so we very happy we’re able to bring this to the UK. Adding to that, I’ve been a fan of Seiji Muzushima ever since he directed the original Full Metal Alchemist series. So those two collaborating is a real treat for fans! Also the English dub has a nice reunion of iconic voices, as Wendee Lee and Steven Blum are the lead roles in the film. They were the voices of Faye and Spike in Cowboy Bebop respectively.”

IMG_7285Tokyo ESP
Coming to Blu-ray and DVD, tentatively schedule for February 2016.
Andrew Partridge: “I love how striking the designs for the show are and the story itself is something that really interested me. The series has something for a variety of fans too, violence, comedic elements, people coming together for one cause. It’s a very fun watch and one I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.”

IMG_7286NINJA SLAYER From Animation
Coming to Blu-ray and DVD in 2016.
Andrew Partridge: “Studio TRIGGER doing what it does best, mixing it up and getting great results. We know it has divided opinion in the anime community but at the same time we feel it represents Anime Limited very well. Also for those who have not seen the series, it very much has an air of ‘old school’ about it. So if you’re a fan of anime more on the violent side of the spectrum from back in the day, this may be one for you to give a try.”

519973Tokyo Marble Chocolate
Coming to Blu-ray and DVD in 2016.
Andrew Partridge: “One of my all-time favourite Christmas anime! Rates about the same as Tokyo Godfathers for me, and that really is saying something. Interesting fact that a lot of the team behind Attack On Titan, before they joined WIT Studio, worked on this title. We have a soft spot for WIT Studio titles, but at the same time we’re very happy we’re able to help expand and showcase the legacy of their work to a wider audience.”

28594_ClaymoreClaymore
Coming to Blu-ray in 2016.
Andrew Partridge: “Claymore has been a popular title in the UK for a while and we’re very happy able to give fans a new experience with it on Blu-ray. For those who haven’t seen it, it’s mix of high fantasy and could be described as Berserk with girls as the main characters. Will be well worth checking out.”

prison-school-key-visualPrison School
Coming to Blu-ray and DVD in 2016
Andrew Partridge: “An odd one, to say the least. Very pervy but we feel there’s something lurking underneath that fits Anime Limited very well and we’re looking to giving it a premium touch too, so to speak.”

20150730_titan01Attack On Titan Junior High
Coming to Blu-ray and DVD in 2016
Andrew Partridge: “What’s not to like? It’s Attack on Titan! We love the franchise and after having the chance to release the original series in France, we’re delighted we’re able to release part of the franchise with Attack On Titan Junior High in the UK. We regard this title as the ‘Full Metal Panic Fumoffu’ of the Attack On Titan Franchise and are very excited to be bringing it to the UK.”

0u1awlxj8wq4b5angmpm (1)The Murder Case of Hana & Alice
Coming to Blu-ray and DVD in 2016.
Andrew Partridge: “Rotoscoping at its finest! The detail involved is something else. A live-action film that has been animated over has a massive benefit to it. It’s a really fun, nice and silly film. And perhaps best of all, for anyone who hasn’t seen the original live-action Hana & Alice film you don’t need to worry as it’s a prequel to the that film. So is perfect place to start and anybody to watch! Also worth noting that it won the audience voted award at Scotland Loves Anime this year.”

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJK_k50161yBrothers Conflict
Coming to Blu-ray and DVD in 2016.
Andrew Partridge: “Shojo titles aren’t something Anime Limited has released before and we know a lot of you have been asking if it would be possible for us to release a Shojo title; now we have the chance to do so. It will be a nice change of pace and adds a new layer to our ever-expanding catalogue of titles. Brothers Conflict specifically is a reverse harem and is very aimed at a specific audience.”

ijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHI_k1888ySnow White with the Red Hair
Coming to Blu-ray and DVD in 2016
Andrew Partridge: “Studio Bones, of Space Dandy and Fullmetal Alchemist fame, back to doing what they do best. We are very happy to releasing this series. It’s a nice change to see a girl fronted series. The look of this show is stunning and really evokes Studio Bones’ production and the soundtrack to compliment it is sublime. The plot is an entriguing one too. A nice mix of drama and fun.”

And now the three addition to the Gundam Collection in 2016 as part of our partnership with Sunrise:

Turn A Gundam
Coming to DVD.
Language: Japanese with English subtitles only.

Mobile Suit Gundam Zeta (aka Gundam Z)
Coming to Blu-ray.
Language: We can confirm that the original Japanese audio with subtitles will be included in this set. At this time, while we anticipate it will be, we are waiting for definitive confirmation on if an English language dub will be available to include in our release. As soon as we have confirmation on this we’ll be sure to make it known.

Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ (aka Gundam Double Zeta)
Coming to DVD.
Language: Japanese with English subtitles only.

Andrew Partridge: “I’m delighted we’re able to distribute all three of these series in the UK for the first time ever! Gundam Z will be coming to Blu-ray while Gundam ZZ and Turn A Gundam will both be released on DVD. Both of the latter will be subtitle-only releases. More details on their releases specifically will be forthcoming. We’re delighted by the reaction we’ve seen both online and at MCM London Comic Con with regard to Gundam titles coming to the UK and we hope you’re as excited as we are for our 2016 lineup.
