Hi folks! As we enter the autumn a new season of anime is raining down upon us all, and today we have some fantastic simulcast news of our own for you as part of that. In short, this season we’ll be bringing the horror and mystery that is King’s Game the Animation (known in Japan as Ōsama Game) to the United Kingdom, granting you the opportunity to watch this hot new series every week after it airs in Japan – if you dare…

ABOUT KING’S GAME

kings-game-simulcast02Based on a Japanese mobile phone novel, production studio Seven have assembled a star cast of Japanese voice talent to explore a high school class about to embark upon a decidedly dangerous game. When 32 students receive a message from the “King”, what initially appears to be a joke soon proves to be anything but. The rules are simple: Obey, and they will be saved. Refuse, and death awaits. This perilous situation only becomes more intense as the orders become more extreme, and both the lives and humanity of those involved are placed under threat.

Here’s the official synopsis for the series:

Kanazawa Nobuaki has transferred to a high school far from where he used to live. Due to an incident at his old school, Nobuaki is afraid of getting close to his new classmates and keeps himself at a distance, but he starts opening up because of a sports day inter-class relay. Then, a single text message from someone calling themselves the “King” is sent to everyone in class. Nobuaki’s classmates think it’s a simple prank, and don’t take it seriously – but Nobuaki knows that a death game is about to begin, and struggles to oppose it…

“Fans are always hungry for good new horror series, and King’s Game undoubtedly delivers in that regard” says Andrew Partridge, President of Anime Limited. “As big fans of the source material here at Anime Limited, we’re very excited to bring this anime adaptation to UK fans online via our friends at Crunchyroll this autumn.”

To get an even better taste of what to expect from the series, you can watch a subtitled trailer of King’s Game the Animation below.

SIMULCAST DETAILS

Watching King’s Game the Animation this autumn really couldn’t be simpler, as we’re partnering with Crunchyroll to bring the show to fans in the United Kingdom. The series begins on Thursday, 5th October at 5PM UK time, and you’ll be able to find new episodes streaming every Thursday moving forward at the same time. As you might expect, all episodes will be broadcast in Japanese with English subtitles.

EDIT (05/10/2017): You can now access the series page for the show directly from the Crunchyroll web site.

We can also confirm at this point that we do additionally hold the home video rights to the series, but needless to say we don’t have any news or plans in that regard yet and won’t for quite some time, as that’s a discussion for another day.

For now though, enjoy watching the show on Crunchyroll. The King orders you to watch this series throughout the autumn, and remember – his orders are absolute…

Until next time!
