What’s inside? What’s on the discs?

First of all, here’s what the Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray/DVD set will look like –

As you can see, we’ve been able to utilise the gorgeous artwork from the film across the packaging to really help capture not only the scale and scope of the film, but also the family aspect of it as well.

The set will comes housed in a rigid case. Inside that you’ll find a digipack that will hold the Blu-ray and DVD discs. But that’s not all as inside the rigid case you’ll also find an A3 poster and an 84-page softcover booklet packed to the brim with content you’re sure to get a kick out of reading!

In fact, seeing as I’ve just mentioned the booklet, let’s focus on that for a few moments. Across the 84-pages you will find a mixture of artworks, information about the characters in the film, along with comments from the Japanese cast members and lots of interviews from people involved in the project. All of the information has been translated from the original Japanese release. To give you an individual breakdown of the various sections:

  • Character information
  • Comments from Japanese cast
  • Interview with original Character Designer, Akihiko Yoshida
  • Interview with Character Design/Chief Animation Director, Yuriko Ishii
  • Interview with Tomoaki Okada (Art Setting) & Kazuo Higashii (Art Director)
  • Interview with Kazuhiro Wakabayashi (Sound Director) & Kenji Kawai (Music)
  • Interview with Writer/Director, Mari Okada and Producer, Kenji Horikawa

All of this across 84-pages makes it one of the most loaded booklets we’ve included in a Collector’s Edition release of ours and something we’re sure you won’t be disappointed in having as part of your collection.

On the discs themselves you’ll get the film (obviously), with the option to watch it with both the English dub and the original Japanese audio with English subtitles. (Both audio options being 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, for those of you who like to know those details.)
